Turn your holiday into a learning experience by applying for a grant that will fund a summer learning program

Students of traditional or online colleges, are you looking to do something productive during summer? You could enroll in some offline or online college courses and continue your learning progress. On top of that you won’t get rusty when fall comes and you need to go back to school.

But enrolling in a new set of offline or online college courses means you’ll need to pay additional fees, fees which your budget might not be able to support. Or could it?

We don’t know whether you are aware, but as a student of traditional or online colleges, you can find and request funding for summer schools. It’s basically the same as applying to a full scholarship. In some cases, it’s not even as complicated. Here’s a few examples of summer scholarships you should look into if you want to spend your holiday doing something productive.

Enter the Boren Scholarships which are offered by the National Security Education Program to undergraduate students looking to experience life in a new culture and study subjects which are considered critical to the US national security, in the process.

The scholarship(s) is limited to US students are awarded for programs that are a maximum of eight weeks long. Applicants who are pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics have a chance of winning a $8,000 scholarship to fund their summer aboard.

Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a high interest in working for the federal government upon their return. Deadline for this grant is set for February 8, 2018 so you have a few months at your disposal to prepare.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is another scholarship venture which seeks to supply funds to students or interns looking to gain new skills critical to the country’s national security and economic competiveness.

However, only students who are currently receiving the Federal Pell Grant are eligible to apply for this scholarship program. Applicants are required to demonstrate an interest for learning new languages if they are to persuade the board of judges to award them the $5,000 scholarship.

Last but not least, we have the Corinne Jeannine Schillings Scholarships which are aimed at ladies who are looking to further their undergraduate studies in foreign languages and cultures.

In order to apply to receive $1,000 in funding, you will need to submit the completed applications, as well a letter of recommendation from a Girl Scout volunteer/staff member and an essay detailing a few key points. A recipient of the Girl Scout Silver or Gold Award should also be included.

Applicants need to be a full-time student in good standing with an overall GP of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or 4.0 on a 5.0 scale. You’ll also need to demonstrate that you’ve been accepted into a study abroad program over the summer.
