UMAPS International Scholarship 2018/2019

The University of Michigan African Presidential Scholars Program (UMAPS) is now accepting applications from faculty members of universities/colleges in Africa. The University of Michigan is gathering faculty members from all African tertiary institutions to the University’s campus for residencies which might last up to 6 months.

Faculty members from Liberia, Ghana, Ethiopia, South Africa, and Uganda can apply directly but faculty members from higher institutions from all other African must first of all, be nominated by a faculty member of University of Michigan and invited by the same faculty member in University of Michigan. There must have been a pre-existing relationship between the two before this can be possible.

Successful applicants are assigned to a faculty mentor throughout their stay at The University of Michigan plus, they assisted in furthering their work on any research project by giving full access to the scholars. Interested applicants are given the options to apply for a two months, four months, or six months residency at the University of Michigan. Faculty members of online schools are not eligible for this grant for school.

Value of Scholarship
Successful scholars of the UMAPS program will benefit the following from the sponsors of the program:

  • Residency lasting about four to six months at the University of Michigan, Michigan USA.
  • Successful scholars will be granted full access to the University’s resources and will also be attached to a faculty mentor.
  • Their air-trip to and from Michigan will be taken care of, by the University of Michigan.

UNESCO/Czech Republic International Undergraduate/Master Scholarship for Developing Countries – 2018/2019

Brief Description

The Government of the Republic of Czech in collaboration with The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is offering scholarship opportunities to students from developing countries who wish to earn Bachelors or Master’s degree.

In a bid to develop friendship among international people globally, and to enhance human resource capacities in developing countries, the Government of the Republic of Czech in conjunction with UNESCO is offering 3 scholarships for undergraduate studies and post-graduate studies for the academic year starting 2018/2019.

Nationals of Czech Republic and foreigners with permanent resident permits to live in Czech Republic are not qualified to apply for this student grant as they will not be awarded the scholarship. This studies will be taught in Czech language, hence successful applicants will be required to take a preparatory course and special language class before commencing their studies. Charles University located in Prague will be in charge of the language course. The Czech language course will be taken at the Charles University, Prague.

And in an effort to combat the harmful effects of this behavior commonly encountered among students, teachers and even parents, a few associations have taken steps to ensure bullying awareness is raised.

Students who are looking to enroll with offline or online universities and have been a victim of bullying or have a particular interest in the cause, should know that special scholarships are awarded for those willing to engage in the fight against bullying.

Successful applicants will receive a $1,000 award. In order to access the funds, students need to answer ONE of the questions listed below in 500-words or less:

  2. How has cyberbullying personally affected you?


Finally, we have the Chely Wright “Like Me” Scholarship which invites LGBT students to apply for a chance to win a $1,250 scholarship for college. In order to be considered for the grant, student need to demonstrate they have actively advocated LGBT rights and issues.

Applicants need to maintain a B- average (GPA) in order to be eligible.
